I'm starting to go through wedding photos.  It's a long and slow process.  There are hundreds to sort and pick through.  I just posted some at Swiftly Wed.  Take a look!

Engagement Photos?

A few weeks before our wedding ceremony, Dan and I met with our photographer to get to know one another.  I hesitate to call them engagement photos.  It was casual, and I think it helped our wedding photos having had this little session under our belt. 

We were at The Navy Pier on a cold, rainy day, but we didn't let it damped our spirits (he he.)

Confession

Today, Wednesday, Dan takes Harper to her friend's house for a play time, and he goes to Prairie Legal Aid.  For four hours. 

Today, instead of working the afternoon away, I went and got a pedicure and it was glorious.  And the part I like the most isn't even having my nails done.  I would pay just as much money to sit in the massage chairs for an hour (yes!  They take an hour to do my nails!).  I love those stinkin' chairs.

She did alright while we were still, but it was a little scarey when it got moving.

Beginning of a new adventure - Momming

I'm quitting my job.  In three weeks I get to begin the journey of being a full time parent (not that it isn't full time right now!)

Dan and I have been discussing many things over the last few months, and we've decided to take the plunge into this scarry season of uncertainty.  Dan is still looking for a job, so me leaving mine isn't what most people would do in today's economy, but we are going to give this a go. 

I've been looking forward to being home with Harper since I first went back to work last February.  She is my sun and moon, and it breaks my heart to miss her small changes through out the day.  I never thought I would feel so strongly about being this type of mother, but I'm not ashamed of my decision. 

One of the additional perks of Momming (a word I like more that Stay-at-home Mom) is being able to blog more (maybe, I really don't know yet).  There may even be items in my Etsy shop again! 

I'm not putting the cart before the horse, but it wouldn't break my heart if I found time for that again. 

And so world, cheers to the next big thing in my life!  Momming!

I got married!

Dan and I had our wedding this last Sunday.  It was such a special day!  This is a photo my best friend Sarah took of me while I was putting my earrings in.  I almost forgot to!  I'm so looking forward to seeing the photographer's shots from the day, but this one photo is quite possibly my favorite shot of me EVER.  Sarah you are amazing! 

Thank you to everyone who was there to celebrate with us, and to those who were celebrating in spirit!  We couldn't have made it through the bumps and hills without your support!

A little of what I do

 A part of my job is doing fundraising with local schools and arts organizations though hosting bookfairs at our store.  It's hard to image what this actually looks like for some, so here are some pictures from our last go-round.

This school brought in a local celebrity with the school children- the Zoo Lady and her Zoo Crew.  They paint faces :)

 She isn't there for the whole bookfair, so when ever she comes the line to get her attention is constantly occupied.

 Besides face painting, I set up games, create scavenger hunts, and organize craft projects.  We encourage performances, and this day we had some from the music classes.

As workers, we love bookfair days.  There is always a tremendous amount of energy and excitement while they are going on.  It's great to help young people find a new book or series to spark their interest.
